Opened in 1995, Milano at Dawson Street was the first Milano restaurant to be opened in Dublin. The aim was to bring pizza perfection from Italy to Ireland, and the restaurant proved popular for its pizzas and salads. Since then Milano has expanded to have more restaurants in Dublin and further afield in Ireland, with more openings planned. The pizza bases are completely free of animal and dairy products and are suitable for vegans. The famous passata sauce is made from tomatoes, salt, pepper, fresh basil, and oregano. All the pizzas are made by hand and can be ordered without the toppings, or swapped as requested, and there is a vegan and dairy free mozzarella alternative. Further vegan dishes are clearly marked on the menu.
